Lib Dems Sweep Surrey By-Elections
The Liberal Democrats have completed a clean sweep in Surrey, winning all six by-elections in a county once considered a Conservative stronghold.
Among the winners were Alan Ashbery, Catherine Houston, and Tony Pearce, each elected to Surrey County Council. Notably, Tony Pearce won 48 percent of the vote in Caterham Valley, flipping the seat to the Lib Dems.
The results have increased the Lib Dems' total county council seats to 19, solidifying their position as the main opposition to the ruling Conservatives.
