Chicago-Columbus-Pittsburgh passenger rail line moves closer to federal government planning

Midwest Connect Passenger Rail Line Moves Forward

The Midwest Connect passenger rail line, which would connect Chicago, Columbus, and Pittsburgh, is gaining momentum. The Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission, along with Fort Wayne, Indiana, and several Ohio cities, have contributed $650,000 to submit a proposal to the Federal Railroad Administration.

This investment brings the project out of the conceptual phase and closer to a feasibility study, should the federal government decide to proceed. According to William Murdock, Executive Director of MORPC, the federal government would cover 90% of the study's costs if they move forward.

Whether it's Columbus, or you're looking at communities like Lima or Marysville.

Author's summary: Midwest Connect rail line moves closer to federal planning with $650,000 investment.
