Economist Points to Hiring Freeze Across US, Praises Utah's Economic Stability
A leading economist in the US shared his economic insight in Utah, highlighting the state's strong social and economic cohesion.
Dr. Mark Zandi, chief economist at Moody Analytics, testified that the US job market has frozen amid uncertainty over tariffs, immigration, and technology.
Behind that is there is a lack of hiring.
Zandi, who frequently briefs corporations and policymakers on the economy, noted that factors such as tariffs, immigration policy, and the government shutdown have created a sense of uncertainty, resulting in little to no job creation.
Utah's economic stability, however, could help it weather the slowdown, according to Zandi.
