The Houlton/GHCA cross country program competed at the annual Red Riot Challenge hosted by Orono High School on Saturday, Oct. 11.
The meet, which brought together many Northern Maine Class C schools, served as a valuable preview of the upcoming PVC Small School and Northern Maine regional championships.
The 4-kilometer course began at the athletic complex and then entered a wooded area. Conditions were ideal, with cool, sunny, and breezy weather.
A total of 18 programs were represented at the meet. Although the Houlton/GHCA girls did not field a full scoring team, they still delivered several strong performances.
