A fire at a garment factory in Bangladesh has killed at least 16 people, with the death toll potentially rising further. The fire broke out in the Mirpur area of Dhaka and spread to an adjacent chemical warehouse.
According to fire service director Tajul Islam Chowdhury,
"Sixteen bodies have been recovered from the second and third floors of the garment factory."
The cause of the blaze is currently unknown. The fire started on the third floor of the four-storey factory, where bleaching powder, plastic, and hydrogen peroxide were stored.
