Western Kentucky Football: Birthplace of the ‘Zombieland’ celebration
Western Kentucky Football is reclaiming the iconic "Zombieland" celebration as they debut new helmets.
The Hilltopper football equipment staff started a trend in the 2022 season by putting the Western Kentucky mascot, Big Red, on their helmet, making the Tops go viral on social media.
- In 2023, the Tops had Big Red decals for all position groups on their helmet.
- In 2024, the Hilltoppers put the mascot’s eyes on their helmet and wore all red uniforms.
This year, the team combined the ‘Zombieland’ celebration with the legendary mascot to create the next big sensation.
The ‘Zombieland’ celebration was created right on the Hill of Western Kentucky University.
