The St Patricks Plains wind project in Tasmania has faced its fifth delay in awaiting a decision under the federal Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) Act.
The project, initially designed for 67 turbines, has been scaled back to 47 turbines with a capacity of 291 megawatts (MW). The decision deadline has been extended to November 28.
A government spokesperson from the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water stated that the delays, including the most recent one, were requested by the project developer, Ark Energy.
The project is located south-east of Milena and 25km north of Bothwell in Tasmania’s Central Highlands. Ark Energy acquired the project in 2022, adding to the delays.
No comment has been received from Ark Energy regarding the delay.
