Dr. Heather Parsons to Lead Fred Hutch's Breast Cancer Initiatives
Medical oncologist Heather Parsons, MD, MPH, has a personal understanding of the impact of cancer on families. Her younger sister was diagnosed with lymphoma as a young adult, and later with melanoma in childhood.
Parsons' experience with her sister's diagnosis and treatment sparked her desire to improve the experience for patients and their families, leading her to specialize in oncology, specifically breast cancer treatment and research.
Years later, her sister now thriving, Parsons remembers her sister's diagnosis and treatment as a challenging time for her family.
Parsons joined Fred Hutch Cancer Center as program head of the Breast Oncology Program, aiming to make a positive impact on the lives of breast cancer patients and their loved ones.
