The Gujarat Giants, owned by Adani Sportsline, have revealed their retained players ahead of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 Mega Auction, scheduled for November 27 in New Delhi.
Following a breakthrough 2025 season marked by their first playoff appearance, the Giants have chosen to keep two overseas stalwarts: captain Ashleigh Gardner and wicketkeeper-batter Beth Mooney. This decision shows their commitment to building the team around experienced talent.
The retention and budgeting strategy points to consistency and renewed focus for the Giants. After finishing last in both 2023 and 2024 seasons, each with only four points, the team showed significant progress in 2025 by securing third place in the league stage with an even win-loss record.
“Under Gardner’s leadership, the team made its way into the knockouts for the first time before bowing out in the Eliminator against Harmanpreet Kaur’s Mumbai Indians.”
The franchise’s revival, shaped by strong character and team unity, now lays the groundwork for their approach to the league’s inaugural mega auction.
The Gujarat Giants focus on experience and strategic rebuilding by retaining key players Gardner and Mooney as they prepare for the WPL 2026 Mega Auction.
