All-New Hilux Debuts Globally with All-Electric Powertrain
Toyota unveiled the ninth-generation Hilux, introducing an all-electric powertrain option for the first time. Alongside this, the model continues to offer the reliable 2.8-litre diesel engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system.
Design and Features
The new Hilux features a complete redesign inside and out, aligning its look closely with the latest Toyota Land Cruiser SUV.
- Front: sleek LED headlights with integrated DRLs, bold closed-off grille with prominent “TOYOTA” lettering.
- Bumper design: muscular, protruding profile with silver accents and integrated LED fog lamps.
- Profile: traditional Hilux silhouette with dual-cab body style, flatbed, aerodynamic alloy wheels, and an electric charging flap on the front fender for the all-electric version.
- Rear: vertically stacked C-shaped LED taillights, all-black bumper, “TOYOTA” badge on the flatbed gate, and high-stop brake lights above the flatbed handle.
Powertrain Options
Toyota confirmed that the new Hilux will still be available with the popular 2.8L diesel engine combined with a mild-hybrid system. In addition, a hydrogen fuel-cell electric version is planned for launch in 2028.
