Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the Greater Toronto Area, calling for 2 to 10 centimeters of snow starting Sunday morning and lasting throughout the day.
The statement, updated on November 8, 2025, extends from London to Ottawa. Meanwhile, a snowfall warning is in effect for parts of eastern Ontario, where some regions could accumulate up to 20 centimeters of snow.
“This is system snow, it’s going to be widespread, so this is indeed our first widespread snow event of the season,” said CityNews meteorologist Chris Potter.
According to Potter, the current track of the system will bring mainly snowfall across southern Ontario. Precipitation will begin as rain overnight before shifting to snow on Sunday morning. After a short break around midday, the snow is expected to continue into the evening.
“Keep in mind what falls might not equate to what stays on the ground,” Potter noted, explaining that downtown Toronto could see about 2 centimeters of accumulation, while northern areas might receive 5 to 10 centimeters.
Environment Canada cautions motorists to expect challenging driving conditions and recommends adjusting travel plans where possible.
The GTA faces its first notable snow event of the season, with widespread snowfall and potential travel disruptions expected across southern Ontario.
