Uwan is predicted to strengthen into a super typhoon by Saturday evening, November 8, or Sunday morning, November 9. PAGASA defines a super typhoon as having maximum sustained winds of 185 km/h or higher.

The typhoon is expected to bring moderate to torrential rains over Luzon and parts of the Visayas starting Saturday, causing widespread flooding and landslides.
