Former Nursing Assistant Indicted in Patient's Death
A former nursing assistant, Diamond Johnson, has been indicted for negligent homicide after a patient's death at a nursing home in Baton Rouge.
According to the Louisiana attorney general, the indictment followed an investigation by the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit.
- Johnson worked at Jefferson Manor nursing home.
- In June 2024, she used a hydraulic lift to move a patient, who then fell and landed on the lift's feet.
- The patient became unresponsive 40 minutes after the fall and could not be resuscitated.
An autopsy revealed the patient died from complications from blunt force injuries due to the fall.
