Michael Bublé introduced the first-ever Mic Drop as coaches eliminated contestants during Season 28 of The Voice. This episode aired Monday, November 3, featuring the Knockout Rounds where Reba McEntire, Niall Horan, Snoop Dogg, and Michael Bublé faced tough decisions. Without Saves or Steals available, each coach had to cut one team member after every duel.
Each coach also had a single Mic Drop to send one artist directly into contention to perform at the Rose Parade on New Year’s Day. Fans will later vote for their favorite among these Mic Drop picks.
Reba McEntire praised Natalia:
“Natalia, your performance was spectacular, you’re gorgeous, I love your outfit. I guess if I had to pick one, I think I’d go with Natalia.”
Niall Horan complimented Toni, calling her a “machine” and adding,
“The stuff you can do with your voice … there’s something special about you.”
Both Horan and Bublé leaned towards choosing Toni. Snoop expressed his pride:
“I am a proud uncle.”
The teams moved closer to the Playoffs, with the coaches’ decisions final during these Knockouts. The Mic Drop adds a strategic twist, allowing one contestant per coach a shot at performing on New Year’s Day and earning viewers' votes.
