Anthony Hopkins Writes Heartfelt Apology to Estranged Daughter Abigail in New Memoir

In his new memoir, We Did It, Kid, Sir Anthony Hopkins offers a deeply personal message to his estranged daughter, Abigail Hopkins. The acclaimed actor uses the memoir to express his desire for reconciliation after years apart from his only child.

The 87-year-old Academy Award winner recently discussed their strained relationship in a New York Times interview while promoting the book. He confirmed that a recent attempt to reconnect, made by his current wife, Stella Arroyave, was met with silence.

“My wife, Stella, sent an invitation [to Abigail] to come and see us,” Hopkins said. “I wish her well, but I'm not going to waste blood over that. If you want to waste your life being in resentment, fine, go ahead.”

Hopkins shares Abigail with his first wife, Petronella Barker, from whom he separated in 1972. Despite past difficulties, the actor’s message to his daughter in the memoir is notably hopeful and open.

“I hope my daughter knows that my door is always open to her. I want her to be well and happy,” Hopkins wrote, as reported by Us Weekly.
