Cochrane May Host 2026 Ironman 70.3 Calgary

Cochrane could become the venue for the 2026 Ironman 70.3 Calgary triathlon if the town council gives its approval. Platinum Racing Events, the organizers of the annual race, suggested relocating it to Cochrane after Harmony Park became unavailable due to ongoing construction.

Event Overview

The triathlon is planned for July 25–26, 2026, with setup starting on July 24. Celebrating its 17th edition, the competition is expected to attract about 1,100 athletes from as many as 26 countries, along with more than 500 spectators and 300 volunteers.

According to organizers, around 40% of participants will travel more than 300 kilometres to take part. The previous edition drew athletes from 16 countries.

A relay format for teams of two or three will also be available. Additional events include a Kids Fun Run, vendor booths, and athlete package pickup scheduled for July 24–25. The main race is set for July 26.

The Historic Cochrane Ranche is proposed as the central headquarters for the 2026 Ironman 70.3 Calgary.
