The Moose Jaw Warriors ended their streak on Wednesday night with a 6–2 victory over the Calgary Hitmen. Early in the first period, the Warriors earned their first power play just before the seven-minute mark.
Pavel McKenzie scored his fifth goal of the season on the man advantage, breaking the deadlock. Shortly after, at even strength, Dominik Pavlik extended the lead with the second goal for the Warriors.
With over five minutes remaining in the period, the Warriors again had a power play opportunity but failed to score. Once back to even strength, captain Lynden Lakovic pushed the lead to 3–0. The first period ended with the Warriors killing a penalty after a cross-checking call on Steven Steranka.
At the start of the second period, the Warriors successfully defended through the remainder of Steranka’s penalty. However, shortly after, defenceman Connor Schmidt received a kneeing penalty, putting the Warriors on another penalty kill.
The Hitmen capitalized on their second power play of the game to score their first goal. Following a scramble in front of Warriors' goaltender Chase Wutzke, minor penalties to Brady Ness and Harrison Lodewyk led to four-on-four hockey for some time.
"Pavel McKenzie broke the ice to tally his fifth goal of the season on the power play."
"Captain Lynden Lakovic was able to find the back of the net once the teams were back at even strength."
The Warriors showed strong special teams play, combining effective scoring with resilient penalty killing to secure the win.
Summary: The Moose Jaw Warriors demonstrated solid power play execution and penalty killing to break their streak with a decisive 6–2 win over the Calgary Hitmen.
