Broncos Edge Raiders Behind Strong Defense for 8-2 Start

Denver’s defense carried the team once again, sacking Geno Smith six times and compensating for the offense’s uneven performance in a penalty-filled 10-7 victory over Las Vegas. The result pushed the Broncos to an 8-2 record, the best in the NFL.

“We’ve got to clean up some of the penalties. We’ve got to clean up the execution and that is an ongoing thing that probably never ends,”

said Coach Sean Payton after the narrow win. Despite the offensive struggles, he emphasized that results matter more than aesthetics.

Denver’s defensive unit, now with 46 sacks through 10 games—the most by any team over that span since at least 1990—secured the team’s seventh consecutive victory. The streak also extended Denver’s home dominance to 10 straight wins.

“At some point, 10 points ain’t going to be enough. … We’ve got to find some juice somewhere,”

admitted quarterback Bo Nix, who finished with 150 passing yards, two interceptions, and one touchdown. Even with offensive inconsistency, the Broncos continue to find ways to win.
