How the People's Postcode Lottery Works
The People's Postcode Lottery is a subscription-based game designed to generate funds for charities while awarding money to participants across the United Kingdom. From Monday to Sunday, twenty postcodes each day can win £1,000. On Saturdays, players have a chance to share a £1 million prize known as the “Millionaire Street.”
“Every month players in a postcode sector share £3.2 million or more. In this example, £1.6 million of this will be shared equally by tickets playing with the winning postcode, with the other £1.6 million being shared equally by tickets playing with the winning postcode sector.”
“On the rare occasion where there are not enough winning tickets in the postcode sector, the area may be expanded to the postcode district.”
At least 33% of each ticket’s cost is donated to charitable causes. Since 2005, players have contributed over £1.3 billion to more than 9,000 organizations across the UK.
