Kingston, Jamaica — In response to the large-scale destruction caused by Hurricane Melissa, Scotiabank announced a contribution of CAD$400,000 (around J$48 million) to aid relief and rebuilding efforts across the country.
The Scotiabank Foundation further pledged J$100 million to help Jamaica’s recovery and strengthen its economic resilience. The funds will be distributed among trusted organisations providing immediate support to affected families, communities, and national reconstruction projects.
Additionally, employees of the Scotia Group are organising care packages worth nearly J$12 million for impacted communities. The bank also pledged to match staff donations up to CAD$50,000 (J$6 million).
Altogether, Scotiabank’s total initial response to the national recovery effort amounts to approximately J$165 million.
