Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence spoke openly with The Hollywood Reporter about her nerves regarding the film industry, her changing feelings toward her latest praised project, and the emotional toll of her press tour: “It feels like your whole diary is about to just be ripped apart by everybody.”
Lawrence, who has experience promoting everything from blockbuster franchises like The Hunger Games to award-winning films such as Silver Linings Playbook, finds discussing Die My Love particularly demanding. Directed by Lynne Ramsay, this intense and elliptical drama explores a new mother’s deteriorating mental health in the isolated Montana wilderness.
The film adapts Ariana Harwicz’s novel of the same name and features one of Lawrence’s most raw and fearless performances so far. Her connection to the story has deepened over time, staying vivid and immediate well after filming wrapped.
Lawrence gave birth to her first child in 2022 and was pregnant with her second during the production of Die My Love. She also faced postpartum depression while overseeing the project as a producer. “That was a ride,” the 35-year-old admits.
“I’ve found the process of promoting the film at length very personal and weird, given the depth of Die My Love’s themes.”
Jennifer Lawrence reveals the emotional difficulty of promoting a deeply personal film while managing profound life changes, highlighting her courageous commitment to authentic storytelling.
