Elder Gérald Caussé, aged 62, has been announced as the newest member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. The calling was made public on Thursday, November 6, by President Dallin H. Oaks. Elder Caussé becomes the first Apostle from France and the fourth current member of the Quorum born outside the United States.
Previously, he served for nearly ten years as the Church’s presiding bishop. At the time of his new appointment, Elder Caussé was fulfilling that responsibility. He and his wife, Sister Valérie Caussé, have three children and have lived in several countries, including France, Germany, and the United States.
“I’ve always had a testimony of Jesus Christ. He’s always been in the center of my life. And I know He’s our Savior and Redeemer. What a wonderful thing it is to be a witness of Christ. That’s the best responsibility or stewardship we might have in our lives.”
This statement was published on ChurchofJesusChrist.org following his ordination by President Oaks and other members of the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.
In addition to his new role, Elder Caussé recently spoke at the annual Utah YSA conference in Salt Lake City, continuing his long service in engaging with youth and young adults across the Church.
Elder Gérald Caussé, a French leader with extensive Church service, has been called to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, marking a milestone for international representation in Church leadership.
