Elder Gérald Caussé Called to Quorum of the Twelve Apostles

SALT LAKE CITY — Elder Gérald Caussé, originally from France and previously serving as Presiding Bishop of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, was called and ordained as the newest member of the Church’s Quorum of the Twelve Apostles on Thursday. The ordination was performed by President Dallin H. Oaks along with other leaders from the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

Role and Responsibilities

The Quorum of the Twelve Apostles is the second-highest governing body in the Church. Its members serve as special witnesses of Jesus Christ and oversee the administrative operations of the worldwide Church.

“I’ve always had a testimony of Jesus Christ,” Elder Caussé said. “And I know He’s our Savior and Redeemer. What a wonderful thing it is to be a witness of Christ.”
