Return to 1983: Will Byers in the Upside Down
The new season begins right where the nightmare started for Will Byers. The scene shows the 12-year-old lying unconscious in the eerie forest of the Upside Down, softly singing in his sleep before suddenly waking up in terror.
The Encounter
Moments later, Will hears the familiar roar of a monster—the Demogorgon—closing in. In panic, he grabs a gun and tries to defend himself, but the shots have no effect. Desperate, he flees through the dark forest, climbing trees to escape. However, he slips, falls, and loses consciousness.

Vecna’s tentacles then seize Will, pulling him toward the dark wall as they tighten their grip, setting a grim tone for what awaits in the final season.
