Mel Tracina is trading her life in Melbourne for the Gold Coast, ready to host the eagerly awaited return of Big Brother Australia. The 36-year-old Nova presenter and The Cheap Seats cultural correspondent says the opportunity feels like reviving a piece of Australian television history.
“I’m feeling as excited as every other OG fan,” she laughs. “There’s that moment where I have to remind myself that I don’t get to sit at home and watch it – I’m working!”
Tracina fondly recalls the magic of the original series, which featured continuous live filming and spontaneous, unforgettable moments that kept audiences hooked.
“It just takes somebody being organic,” she says, recalling Sara-Marie Fedele’s famous bum dance. “At the time, you didn’t know it would become part of Aussie culture, like the phrase ‘Game on, moles.’ That authenticity is what we latch onto.”
Beyond the fun and chaos, Tracina loved watching relationships unfold inside the house.
“I loved the love stories,” she reminisces.
Mel Tracina shares her excitement for hosting the new season of Big Brother Australia, embracing nostalgia for its spontaneous moments and heartfelt housemate bonds.
