The Eat Ghana Rice Campaign has emphasized that the belief that locally produced Ghana Rice is of inferior quality is no longer valid. According to the campaign, local rice brands have significantly improved through modern processing and investment in advanced technology.
"We understand that for years, the main obstacle to purchasing Ghana Rice was the perception of poor quality and the presence of stones or foreign materials. We are here to declare that this perception is outdated and inaccurate," said Dr. Nana Ama Aning Oppong-Duah of the Eat Ghana Rice Campaign.
The campaign highlights that the Ghana Rice value chain has experienced major technological progress, with millers adopting advanced equipment for dehusking, grading, polishing, and colour sorting. These innovations have enhanced the cleanliness and quality of the grains to meet Food and Drugs Authority and Ghana Standards Authority benchmarks.
"Our leading brands are now processed with precision using modern machinery to ensure clean, ready-to-cook grains that meet national food safety and production standards," the statement added.
Ghana Rice now offers uniform, polished grains that cook into light, fluffy, and non-sticky rice—perfect for popular local dishes such as Jollof, Waakye, and plain rice. The campaign is urging citizens to support local farmers by choosing Ghana Rice, helping reduce the surplus currently affecting producers nationwide.
The Eat Ghana Rice Campaign asserts that Ghana's locally produced rice has reached high-quality standards thanks to new technology, urging citizens to embrace it and support local agriculture.
