Roz Purcell has provided a new update on her experience with alopecia, noting that episodes of hair loss are becoming "more common" recently. She has been candid about living with this autoimmune condition, which attacks the hair follicles.
Alopecia can be hereditary but may also worsen with stress. On Wednesday evening, Roz posted a photo on Instagram showing a bald patch on the back lower part of her head.
“First time having two bad patches pop up in the same month. It’s just getting more common.”
Earlier this year, Roz shared guidance for others dealing with alopecia areata, encouraging them to seek professional help. She documented her visit to the Institute of Dermatologists to see Dr. Catriona Ryan, who gave her disease-specific injections.
The specialist clarified that alopecia areata is not related to nutrition, but hair loss could sometimes result from low B12 or iron deficiency.
“Go to an expert.”
Roz emphasizes that consulting a specialist is crucial for managing the condition effectively.
