Claressa Shields, a two-time Olympic gold medalist and five-division professional boxing champion, continues to elevate women's boxing. The Flint native announced on Thursday that she has signed a multi-fight contract worth at least $8 million, which could be the highest guaranteed purse for a female boxer.
The exact number of fights under this contract, as well as the timing and location of her next bout, have not been disclosed. However, Shields has expressed intentions to return to the ring early in 2026. This agreement is with Salita Promotions, her longtime promoter, along with Wynn Records, a leading music promoter.
“This deal represents more than just a contract, it’s a statement,” Shields said. “I’ve fought my entire career to prove that women’s boxing deserves equal respect, equal pay, and equal opportunity. Partnering with Salita Promotions and Wynn Records gives me the platform to keep breaking barriers inside and outside the ring. Together, we’re building something that’s never been done before.”
At 30 years old, Shields last faced Lani Daniels from New Zealand in July at Detroit’s Little Caesars Arena, where over 15,000 fans attended. With a unanimous decision victory, Shields improved her professional record to 17-0 while defending her five championship belts. She is widely regarded as the greatest women's boxer in history.
Claressa Shields’ groundbreaking $8 million deal marks a new milestone for women’s boxing and reinforces her mission to achieve equality and break barriers in the sport.
