Miss World Chile Contestant Performs Death Metal During Pageant Semifinal

Ignacia Fernández, a 27-year-old model and contestant in Miss World Chile 2025 (Miss Mundo Chile), shocked the audience at the pageant semifinal on November 2 by performing a song from her progressive death metal band, Decessus.

Defying the typical beauty pageant stereotypes, Fernández delivered a powerful original track alongside her bandmate Carlos Palma, while elegantly dressed in a ball gown. Her bold performance earned her a standing ovation, with one judge remarking he had never witnessed anything similar in such a contest.

“Television lends itself to people making memes and making fun of you,” Fernández told the Chilean paper Las Últimas Noticias. “The song I sang is by my band. It’s my job, my life.”

Representing the Las Condes district, Fernández aims to advance to Miss Universe after securing a place in the finals scheduled for Sunday, November 9. Her unique blend of death metal and beauty pageantry presents a fresh perspective on the pageant stage.
