The 19th edition of the World Wide Technology Championship is back at El Cardonal at Diamante Cabo San Lucas in Los Cabos, Mexico. This Tiger Woods–designed course overlooks the Pacific Ocean, measures 7,452 yards, and plays to a par 72. It will host the event for the third consecutive year.
Among the 120 players competing, previous winners Austin Eckroat (2024) and Erik van Rooyen (2023) lead the field. Let’s explore who else has performed well on this course south of the border.
Eckroat, the reigning champion, highlighted his win with a closing round of 63 and finished at 24-under par, including four rounds in the 60s and 30 birdies against only four bogeys. It marked only his second top-25 finish in two years, including a T23 in 2023.
“His winning formula included staking 60 of 72 greens in regulation (T8 in GIR) and needing only 112 putts (T3). After eight rounds at El Cardonal, Eckroat has birdied 51 of 144 holes and posted every round in the 60s.”
The par-72 El Cardonal played nearly two shots below par (70.256) in 2024 after an even lower scoring debut at 68.993 in 2023. Over the last two seasons, the course’s fairways ranked either first or second easiest to hit, alongside the Plantation Course at Kapalua.
