Several Miss Universe contestants walked out of a pre-pageant event following a heated confrontation between Miss Mexico Fátima Bosch and pageant executive Nawat Itsaragrisil on Tuesday.
The incident began when Bosch refused Itsaragrisil’s demand that all contestants promote the host country, Thailand, on their social media pages. Itsaragrisil insisted, You are in Thailand. You are in a game.
The disagreement intensified during a photo shoot about Thailand. Itsaragrisil scolded Bosch for not participating and insisted she verbally confirm her willingness to promote the country’s content.
I heard you’re not going to support everything about Thailand.
When Bosch tried to explain her reasons, Itsaragrisil accused her of prioritizing the Miss Mexico directors over his Miss Universe team, then insulted her by calling her a “dummy.”
When Itsaragrisil demanded Bosch sit down, she replied, Because I have a voice,
and added, You’re not respecting me as a woman.
Other contestants protested loudly as Itsaragrisil ordered security to remove Bosch. As she left, Bosch remarked, As women, you need to show respect for us.
