SEATTLE — Macklin Celebrini recorded a goal and two assists as the San Jose Sharks routed the Seattle Kraken 6-1 on Wednesday night at Climate Pledge Arena. The win marked San Jose’s fourth victory in its past six outings.
“Our penalty kill was really good tonight. So that helps,” said Sharks coach Ryan Warsofsky. “I thought our game got better as the game went on.”
Ryan Winterton scored his first NHL goal for Seattle, which wrapped up a five-game homestand with a 2-1-2 record. Joey Daccord started in goal with 15 saves before being replaced by Matt Murray in the third period, who added three saves in relief.
“Disconnected in a bunch of different areas,” Kraken coach Lane Lambert said. “Our structure wasn’t good enough tonight.”
Celebrini opened the scoring just 1:08 into the first period after taking a pass from Tyler Toffoli and beating Daccord with a sharp wrist shot from the slot.
“I was just in the slot and there to put it in,” Celebrini said. “[Smith and Toffoli] did a great job getting on their D and forcing a turnover.”
Celebrini’s three-point night and Askarov’s solid goaltending powered San Jose to an emphatic 6-1 win over Seattle, extending their strong recent form.
