SEATTLE — Macklin Celebrini recorded a goal and two assists to power the San Jose Sharks to a commanding 6-1 win over the Seattle Kraken at Climate Pledge Arena on Wednesday night.
Will Smith, Tyler Toffoli, and John Klingberg each added a goal and an assist, while Ethan Cardwell and Ty Dellandrea also found the net for San Jose (5-6-3). The Sharks have gone 4-1-1 in their last six games, showing steady improvement.
Goaltender Yaroslav Askarov was sharp, making 28 saves to secure his team’s fourth victory in six outings.
"Our penalty kill was really good tonight. So that helps," Sharks coach Ryan Warsofsky said. "I thought our game got better as the game went on."
Ryan Winterton scored his first NHL goal for Seattle (6-3-4), which wrapped up a five-game homestand with a 2-1-2 record. Joey Daccord stopped 15 shots before being replaced by Matt Murray in the third period, who recorded three saves in relief.
"Disconnected in a bunch of different areas," Kraken coach Lane Lambert said. "Our structure wasn't good enough tonight."
Celebrini opened the scoring just 1:08 into the first period. He took a right-wing pass from Toffoli into the slot and fired a wrist shot that beat Daccord on the blocker side.
"I was just in the slot and there to put it in," Celebrini said. "[Smith and Toffoli] did a great job getting on their D and forcing a turnover."
Winterton later evened the score at 16:30, but San Jose quickly regained control and dominated the remainder of the game.
Celebrini’s three-point performance and Askarov’s 28 saves propelled the Sharks to a convincing 6-1 win, extending their strong recent run of form.
