Supreme Court Rejects PIL on Rahul Gandhi's Voting Irregularities Allegations

The Supreme Court has rejected a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking a special investigation team (SIT) probe into allegations of voting irregularities raised by Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi.

A bench of Justices Surya Kant and Joymalya Bagchi stated that the petitioner can pursue alternative remedies, but not through a PIL in the Court.

"Pursue your remedy wherever you want,"
said Justice Kant.

The petitioner mentioned that a representation was given to the Election Commission, but it was not considered.

The Court stated that

"Writ Petition purportedly filed in public interest shall not be entertained. Petitioner is at liberty to pursue alternate remedies as available,"
while rejecting the plea.
