Team Updates Before the Series
New Zealand announced their squads for the T20 format ahead of the series. Kane Williamson, New Zealand’s former captain and top batsman, announced his retirement from T20 Internationals to focus on Test cricket starting with this series against West Indies.
Tim Seifert was ruled out of the T20 squad due to a broken finger sustained during a domestic game. He has been replaced by Mitch Hay, although Devon Conway remains a contender for the wicketkeeper position in the starting eleven. Seifert's absence poses a challenge for New Zealand as they prepare for the 2026 T20 World Cup.
