New Postmaster and Location Announced for Boyle Post Office

The Boyle Post Office will relocate early next year following the appointment of a new postmaster. A spokesperson for An Post confirmed that Paul Kelly junior of Kelly’s Supervalu in Boyle has accepted the role of running the branch.

The current office on Shop Street will move to the Supervalu Shopping Centre on Elphin Street. The proposed location is within a vacant retail unit inside Kelly’s Supervalu, about 450 meters from the existing site. The new post office is scheduled to open on February 3rd.

Late last year, An Post engaged auctioneering firm Cushman Wakefield to oversee the sale of 14 town centre post office buildings, including the Boyle property. The asking price was set at €130,000.

“Yes, when we placed the former post office on the market we were doing so on the basis that it would remain as a post office. However, one could never rule out the new contractor giving up their contract, as happened here, not that new applicants would favour a new location,”
“That’s what happened here and we have been lucky in coming up with an ideal new location and the chance to provide a new modern facility for the people of Boyle,” said the An Post spokesperson.

Summary

Paul Kelly junior will take over as Boyle’s postmaster, with the branch moving to Kelly’s Supervalu at Elphin Street to provide improved postal services from February 3rd.
