Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Stone Developing ‘Miss Piggy’ Movie With ‘Oh, Mary’ Tony-Winner Cole Escola

Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Stone, and Cole Escola Team Up for ‘Miss Piggy’ Movie

Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Stone, and Tony-winner Cole Escola are collaborating to produce a feature film centered on Miss Piggy, the iconic Muppet diva. The project is in early development at Disney, which owns the rights to the Muppets.

Miss Piggy, created in the 1970s by Bonnie Erickson and Frank Oz, has never before been the subject of a standalone feature film. Lawrence and Stone will act as producers, while Escola, known for the Broadway play Oh, Mary!, is writing the screenplay.

“I don’t know if I can announce this but I am just going to … Emma Stone and I are producing a Miss Piggy movie and Cole is writing it,” Lawrence revealed on the podcast Las Culturistas, hosted by Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers.

When asked if Lawrence and Stone plan to co-star, Lawrence responded playfully, “I think so. We have to… It’s fucked up [that we haven’t done a movie together].”
