As Stranger Things Season 5 approaches, the Duffer brothers have unveiled details about an upcoming spinoff, along with some disappointing news for fans. Season 5 will be the final season of the original series, but the world of Hawkins will continue through new projects.
Volume 1 of the final season will premiere on Netflix on November 26, marking a historic moment for the show. Volume 2 and the Season 5 finale will follow on Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve of 2025.
After Stranger Things ends, Matt and Ross Duffer will join Paramount under a four-year deal to develop new films, series, and streaming content via their production company, Upside Down Pictures. Despite moving on, they will remain creatively involved in the Hawkins universe through upcoming spinoffs.
In an interview with SFX Magazine, the Duffer brothers shared details about the animated show, which is set between Seasons 2 and 3 of Stranger Things. Ross Duffer explained the premise:
“The cartoon goes back and fills in a six-month gap that we weren’t able to explore. It’s fun because you get to see them as little kids again, but it’s not really again.”
This series will explore unseen moments in Hawkins, offering fans new insights into characters and events from the show's timeline.
