Canon has unveiled the EOS R6 Mark III, a full-frame camera that upgrades key features compared to its predecessor. It boosts resolution to 32.5 megapixels from the previous 24 megapixels offered by the EOS R6 Mark II.
The new model integrates a freshly developed sensor alongside the DIGIC X processor carried over from the R6 II. This combination provides faster readout speeds while sustaining a rapid continuous shooting rate of 40 frames per second using the electronic shutter.
The EOS R6 Mark III supports an ISO range up to 64,000 and introduces a sensor crop option that extends focal length digitally, though with reduced resolution.
Canon has enhanced autofocus recognition to identify complex subjects like trains, airplanes, and horses more reliably. It can also differentiate among more animal types, such as cats and dogs. The camera supports prioritized tracking of up to ten faces, aiding portrait and event photography.
The autofocus is reported to work effectively down to -6.5 EV.
The internal image stabilizer compensates for up to 8.5 stops with the electronic shutter, improving handheld shooting stability. Video functionality has also been significantly expanded, though specific details were not provided.
Overall, the EOS R6 Mark III refines speed, resolution, and autofocus, positioning it as a versatile choice for both photography and video recording.
