The mystery spinner Varun Chakaravarthy dismissed Glenn Maxwell for the sixth time in T20 cricket, reinforcing his reputation as a challenging opponent for the Australian batter.
Only Jasprit Bumrah (7) and Ravindra Jadeja (7) have dismissed Maxwell more times (7) than Chakaravarthy (6) in T20 cricket.
Maxwell returned to the playing XI after an injury break and came in at number seven when Australia needed 70 runs from 41 balls. Tight bowling by Chakaravarthy, Arshdeep Singh, and Washington Sundar pressured Maxwell into attempting a big shot. He completely missed the ball, which clipped the wickets, resulting in his dismissal.
Having set Australia a target of 168, India’s bowlers initially struggled but then triggered a collapse. Australia lost by 48 runs, giving India a 2-1 lead in the five-match series. The next match is scheduled to take place at the Gabba on November 8, 2025.
"He missed the ball completely, and it just kissed the wickets."
Varun Chakaravarthy continues to be a key threat to Glenn Maxwell in T20 cricket, contributing significantly to India's lead in the Australia series.
