An urgent recall has been announced for three tomato-based pasta sauces after concerns they may contain Clostridium botulinum, a bacterium that causes a rare but deadly form of food poisoning.
First and Last Bakery, LLC, has recalled the following 26-ounce products:
According to reports, these items were distributed to retailers, including Big Y, across Connecticut and Massachusetts starting on September 22, 2025. All affected jars show a use-by date of September 26, 2025.
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) stated that the products were manufactured without an approved schedule, meaning the safety process was not properly validated to prevent the growth of Clostridium botulinum.
The Independent and the Daily Record both confirmed that the FDA is coordinating the recall efforts. Consumers are strongly advised not to consume the sauces and to return them for a full refund.
While no cases of illness have been reported, botulism can be fatal if ingested. Shoppers should treat this recall seriously and dispose of or return any affected jars immediately.
