The region returns to Green on the Threat Tracker as winds ease and only a few light lake showers move through this morning. Rain chances fade by afternoon, giving way to partly to mostly sunny skies with highs in the mid-40s Fahrenheit.
Winds remain calm today, peaking near 20 mph. By Friday, breezes strengthen again up to 30 mph ahead of a new front that will bring afternoon and evening rainfall.
By Sunday night, colder air wraps in behind the system, giving the region its first chance at snow, particularly in higher elevations.
Colder Canadian air moves south on Monday, producing possible lake-effect snow as winds shift from the north. On Tuesday, a stronger northwest flow off Lake Ontario could bring more defined lake-effect snow bands.
At this stage, major accumulations are not expected, though forecasters will refine timing and totals as the week unfolds. Temperatures Monday and Tuesday are unlikely to rise out of the 30s.
“Make sure to tune back in for updates on that,” the meteorologist advised.
By Wednesday, a fast-moving clipper system is set to sweep through with scattered rain and breezy winds.
