Hundreds Reportedly Killed at Sudanese Hospital as Evidence of RSF Atrocities Mounts

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF), after declaring control over El Fasher on Sunday, are reported to have killed more than 460 people inside a local hospital. The victims included patients and medical staff, according to statements from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Sudan Doctors Network.

“I am appalled and deeply shocked at reports that more than 460 people have been killed at the Saudi maternity hospital,” said WHO Secretary-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on X, without assigning blame.

In a separate statement posted on Facebook, the Sudan Doctors Network alleged that RSF fighters “killed in cold blood everyone they found inside the Saudi hospital.”

Background of the Conflict

The conflict between Sudan’s armed forces and the RSF began in April 2023, following a power struggle within the country’s military regime. What started as internal tensions in Khartoum quickly expanded nationwide, engulfing numerous regions in violence.

By March 2025, the Sudanese army had regained control of Khartoum and much of the north and east, while the RSF continued to dominate western and southwestern territories. With the withdrawal of army forces from El Fasher, the RSF now effectively controls all five regional capitals of Darfur. Intense battles still persist in the southern Kordofan region.
