Early Sunday morning, two residents of Arcadia were killed when a northbound sedan crossed the centerline on State Road 31 and struck an SUV traveling southbound, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 1:30 a.m. on November 2, 2025, about four miles north of County Road 74 near Punta Gorda, Charlotte County. The Florida Highway Patrol reported that a 22-year-old man from Arcadia was driving north in a sedan when, for reasons still under investigation, he veered over the centerline into the southbound lane. The vehicle collided head-on with an SUV driven by a 63-year-old woman, also from Arcadia.
Both drivers sustained fatal injuries at the scene.

The Florida Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation to determine the exact cause of the collision.
