The Golden State Warriors held a lead for much of the first half despite missing Steph Curry, Draymond Green, and Jimmy Butler. In Sacramento, Curry joined the pregame huddle via Facetime, Draymond Green acted as an assistant coach in a navy blue sweatsuit, and Butler was absent from the arena.
Without their three stars—two of whom did not travel—the Warriors eventually lost momentum against a similarly depleted Sacramento Kings squad. Golden State built a double-digit lead before halftime but ultimately fell 121–116.
Will Richard and Moses Moody led the scoring with 28 points each, while Jonathan Kuminga added 24. Their efforts couldn’t match Russell Westbrook’s triple-double performance of 23 points, 16 rebounds, and 10 assists, supported by five Kings players scoring in double figures.
“Richard, a second-round draft pick making his first career start, combined with Kuminga to score all but two of the Warriors’ first 23 points.”
Golden State led 32–25 after the first quarter and maintained a 62–57 edge at halftime. After the break, Moody carried the offense, contributing 18 second-half points, including a crucial three-pointer and a three-point play that cut the deficit to 100–98 late in the game.
The undermanned Warriors showed resilience but couldn’t sustain their early lead, falling 121–116 to the Kings despite standout efforts from Richard, Moody, and Kuminga.
