Miami Heat star Bam Adebayo left Wednesday's game against the Denver Nuggets after sustaining a left foot injury. The 28-year-old center exited after eight minutes of play and did not return, though he had been listed as questionable earlier. At that point, the Heat were trailing 122-112 in the fourth quarter.
According to Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald, Adebayo suffered a left foot injury and was replaced by rookie Kel'el Ware for the second half. The reporter shared the update on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.
“Bam Adebayo not on the court for the start of the second half. Kel'el Ware starting in Adebayo's place,” wrote Anthony Chiang.
Witnesses noted that Adebayo appeared to be in significant pain as he left the court, raising concerns about the severity of his injury.
“Obviously Bam going down was unexpected but still competing vs the #1 offense and a top 5 defense is still so much build off of. Last year’s team would’ve lost by 35. There shouldn’t ever be a rebound disparity of 20 rebounds that deflating and gives the other team more attempts.”
“Was always gonna be tough with Bam. Made impossible once he didn’t come back in. Proud of the effort the group showed… hopefully Nikola Jokic can give Niko some advice while he’s there. Hopefully Bam’s injury isn’t too bad, but the lack of updates is worrying.”
Before the injury, Adebayo was averaging 22.4 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game, shooting 46 percent from the field.
Bam Adebayo’s left foot injury against the Nuggets alarmed Miami fans, who praised the team’s resilience but fear a potentially serious setback for their star center.
