Heat fall 122-112 to Nuggets as Bam Adebayo exits with foot injury

DENVER — The Miami Heat suffered a 122-112 loss to the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday night at Ball Arena after Bam Adebayo left the game early with a left foot injury. The setback brought Miami’s record to 4-4.

“Obviously it was too much to play through,” Adebayo said. “You don’t want to make it worse or cause lingering effects.”

Adebayo added that he would undergo an MRI on Friday in Miami after feeling pain in his foot during the first quarter.

“I felt pain in my foot, so I decided to check myself out and see what happened. We’ll run more tests tomorrow and see how it goes.”

Already short on size, the Heat relied heavily on 7-foot center Kel’el Ware, who had limited help containing Denver’s dominant frontcourt. The Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic overpowered Miami once again, recording his 11th straight win over the Heat.

“Hope it’s nothing serious and he’ll be able to come back soon,” Ware said about Adebayo.

Jokic finished with 33 points, 16 assists, and 15 rebounds, clinching a triple-double by the middle of the third quarter. Miami’s scoring was led by Norman Powell with 23 points, Andrew Wiggins with 22, and Jaime Jaquez Jr. with 21.
