Just weeks before the highly anticipated Miss Universe pageant, controversy arose following a tense incident between Nawat Itsaragrisil, director of Miss Universe Thailand, and Mexico’s contestant, Fátima Bosch. The encounter, which was captured on video and spread widely, showed a heated exchange that drew public attention.
Nawat Itsaragrisil, a Thai businessman and president of Miss Grand International, addressed the incident in a live broadcast shared on Instagram pages dedicated to beauty pageants.
“If anyone feels bad, uncomfortable, or affected, I apologize to everyone. I especially apologized to the girls who were present, around 75 of them,” he said. “I always strive to deliver five-star service. I prepare everything for each contestant from every country. My dream is to make history with Miss Universe 74. But I understand that sometimes unexpected issues arise.”
He emphasized that all delegates are honest and suggested there may have been a misunderstanding regarding the Miss Universe announcement or his intentions.
“All the delegates are honest. Perhaps they misunderstood the Miss Universe announcement or what I intended to do.”
This incident highlights the tension behind the scenes of major pageants and the importance of clear communication among organizers and contestants.
