Retired rugby player Lewis Moody, 47, recently spoke about his Motor Neurone Disease (MND) diagnosis and how his family is managing the difficult situation. The former rugby union star revealed the life-shortening neurological condition, which affects nerve function controlling movement, just weeks ago.
In an interview on BBC Breakfast, Lewis explained how his wife and two sons, Dylan, 17, and Ethan, 15, are handling the shocking news. He shared that his sons are still trying to process everything, saying:
“Just to step away from all that and have a bit of family time - especially with the boys. They're still young, they're still trying to understand it all.”
Dylan is currently in Qatar playing football, and Lewis hopes to visit him soon to enjoy some precious family moments.
When asked about his symptoms, Lewis reported:
“Touch wood - at the minute, physically, no not really. I have a couple of small symptoms in the hand and the shoulder but the only real effect it has on you is in the back of your mind.”
He emphasized the importance of focusing on daily joy and maintaining a sense of purpose despite the diagnosis.
Lewis Moody candidly updates on his MND battle, highlighting his family's adjustment and his determination to cherish every day with them.
