MassDOT plans new bidding process for service plaza contract
The Department of Transportation will rebid the service plaza contract that led to a public fight between Applegreen and Global Partners.
Highway Administrator Jonathan Gulliver announced that his Highway Division will take over day-to-day management of the service plazas.
A protest was held outside the Statehouse in July by Highway Employees and supporters of Global Services, a Waltham company that lost the bid to renovate and operate Massachusetts Turnpike service plazas.
MassDOT will rebid the project, according to Gulliver.
The goal is to
enforce contract key performance indicatorsthrough the Highway Division's management.
